Today our guest author is D.W. Brooks, author of the romantic suspense, Homecoming Chaos.
Thank you for playing Book Trivia with us!
In the movie Castaway,
if Tom Hanks unearthed a copy of Homecoming Chaos,
how would that help Tom find a way off the island?
This is a little embarrassing. I haven’t actually seen Cast Away (it’s a long story!), but just from what I have gathered from the synopsis of the film, Homecoming Chaos
would offer Tom Hanks nothing that could help him escape the island!
However, it is a great read, so it could give him something to do during
his downtime. He could root for the romantic pairing and try to solve
the murder mystery!
Everyone knows Miley
Cyrus is the wild child in the music business.
But she read your book and wants to let you know that it changed her
life for the better. Why did your book give
Miley a new lease on life?
Miley read Homecoming Chaos
and decided to change her behaviors from when she was a child. What she
read can help her be more selective in relationships and to try to have
better relationships with the members of her family. Miley may also try
to keep her personal business more private, even as a famous person.
You are being pulled over for speeding. When the officer asks you for your license and you discover you left it at home, you decide to pull out your book instead. What do you tell the officer?
My name is D. W. Brooks, author of the world-famous book Homecoming Chaos. I have a book signing and talk scheduled in five minutes, which is why I am speeding. I would hate to disappoint my fans—one of which is the Mayor and her husband (wink, wink!). This book signing might also get me to Best Seller Status. Please give me a warning so I can avoid upsetting anyone!
Honestly, I would probably get better traction in this situation if I told the police officer I was a physician—which I am!
You have a chance to
appear on the hit talent show for authors, American Book Idol, and the mighty
judges will determine whether your book will make it to Hollywood and become a big screenplay. What
would impress them more – your book cover, an excerpt or your best review – and
why?
I love my cover, to be honest. But
there are many really pretty covers on all the nominated novels.
However, my best review would be the most impressive. My editorial
review from the highly respected Midwest Book Review was glowing and dug
into the underlying themes and the motivations of my characters in my
book. It also emphasized several elements that would make my book an
excellent candidate for a movie adaptation.
A homeless man was caught stealing your book out of a bookstore. When asked why he did it, he opened the book and pointed a passage out. What was that passage?
Page 354, which has a passage that might mean something to him. On this page, the character mentioned had faced similar challenges. Because of no fault of his own, the character lost everything. This homeless man also had a difficult life. He, too, had been a high school football star and earned a college football scholarship. Then, he was caught up in a scandal while in college and was kicked out of school. The homeless man related to this character’s similar difficult situation and wanted to see the resolution.
Finally, you just got
word that your book has received the 2023 NY Times Bestselling Book Award and
you have to attend the ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan. Anyone who’s anyone will be
there and it’s your shot for stardom. On stage, you must give an
acceptance speech. What would you say and who would you thank?
Hello to the New York Times Bestselling Book Judges for this award. I would like to thank my husband, children, and my parents for their unending support in the journey to create this book. I would like to thank my readers and fans for their enthusiasm and support for my book and for me in this quest. I would like to thank the writers who came before me and helped pave the way for this book to break through in the book landscape.
I would also extoll the availability of self-publishing and how this has provided so many opportunities to many writers who may not have had the opportunity to publish their creations before. I would remind everyone that Homecoming Chaos is just the first book of the Model MD Series, and that I plan to release one book each year for the next 10 years.
Thank you again for your support!
The author lives in Texas with her husband and children. She enjoys trying to stay in shape, sporadically cooking, reading (still), writing, and working on her blog. She is eternally grateful to the woman who donated a kidney to her over 5 years ago and continues to advocate for organ donation as much as she can.
