Periodically, we scour the Internet for interesting authors who would like to play Book Trivia with us.  By answering our book trivia questions, we get to learn things about the author no one else knows!  So, let’s get ready…let’s play…Book Trivia!

Today our guest author is Negrita Smart, author of the children's book Grace And The Golden Rule.

Thank you for playing Book Trivia with us!

In the movie Castaway, if Tom Hanks unearthed a copy of Grace And The Golden Rule, how would that help Tom find a way off the island?

Grace And The Golden Rule would not help him find a way of the island but it would give him a mental escape from the situation and allow an opportunity to reflect on his family and childhood as a boy.

Everyone knows Miley Cyrus is the wild child in the music business.  But she read your book and wants to let you know that it changed her life for the better.  Why did your book give Miley a new lease on life?

Perhaps, it would remind her of what we all need to be reminded of (regardless of who we are) - consider the important things in life such as love, kindness, sharing, thinking of others.

You have a chance to appear on the hit talent show for authors, American Book Idol, and the mighty judges will determine whether your book will make it to Hollywood and become a big screenplay.  What would impress them more – your book cover, an excerpt or your best review – and why?

The Book Cover! Grace looks like the women in my family. She has the color of my Mom’s eyes, the shape of my niece’s eyes, my sisters’ smile and nose along with my grandmothers’ freckles and cheekbones. She is definitely unique.

Finally, you just got word that your book has received the 2013 NY Times Bestselling Book Award and you have to attend the ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan.  Anyone who’s anyone will be there and it’s your shot for stardom.  On stage, you must give an acceptance speech.  What would you say and who would you thank?

I would thank God for the inspiration to write the book. I would thank my husband and immediate family members for their unwavering support.

Grace loves the Winter season. It is her favorite of all seasons because she loves to play in the snow with her friends. Winter is also Grace’s favorite season because she can wear her favorite purple scarf. Grace wears it every day until she meets Ruth. After meeting Ruth as school, Grace feels differently about playing in the snow and wearing her favorite purple scarf. This is because Grace learns a valuable lesson about how to treat other people.
