Playing Book Trivia with Lee Matthew Goldberg, Author of The Desire Card

It’s time to play...
Periodically, we scour the Internet for interesting authors who would like to play Book Trivia with us.  By answering our book trivia questions, we get to learn things about the author no one else knows!  So, let’s get ready…let’s play…Book Trivia!
Today our guest author is Lee Matthew Goldberg, author of the new crime/suspense, The Desire Card.

Thank you for playing Book Trivia with us!

In the movie Castaway, if Tom Hanks unearthed a copy of The Desire Card, how would that help Tom find a way off the island?

Hmmm, because of the crazy up and downs the main character goes through, Tom Hanks may be happy to just stay safe on the island.

Everyone knows Miley Cyrus is now the wild child in the music business.  But she read your book and wants to let you know that it changed her life for the better.  Why did your book give Miley a new lease on life?

It tells you to be thankful for what you have and that there are more important things that just money.

You are being pulled over for speeding.  When the officer asks you for your license and you discover you left it at home, you decide to pull out your book instead.  What do you tell the officer?

That I’m sorry for speeding but I’m late for a book event and I’ll sign a copy for him if he lets me go.

Superman has decided to pull out one of your characters to be his sidekick.  Who is it and why?

Naelle is pretty badass so she would make a good sidekick. She wouldn’t take any crap from any of Superman’s nemeses.

You have a chance to appear on the hit talent show for authors, American Book Idol, and the mighty judges will determine whether your book will make it to Hollywood and become a big screenplay.  What would impress them more – your book cover, an excerpt or your best review – and why?

My Kirkus Review was really good and I know they can be prickly so I would show them that. The cover kicks ass too.

You have five seconds to tell us who the greatest author of all time is.  In your opinion, who would that be?

F. Scott Fitzgerald.

A homeless man was caught stealing your book out of a bookstore.  When asked why he did it, he opened the book and pointed a passage out.  What was that passage?

There is a scene with a homeless guy singing in the Bronx. Maybe he identified with him.

You have been told your book has won one free year on a billboard in any one state.  What state do you feel would be best for your book and why?

It takes place in NYC so let’s just go with a billboard in Times Square.

The Arbor Day Foundation has decided to pick one tree in your honor because of your writing brilliance.  What kind of tree is it and why did they choose that tree in relation to your book?

I wrote a lot of the book under a tree in Central Park so that one. I think it’s an Elm tree.

Finally, you just got word that your book has received the 2019 NY Times Bestselling Book Award and you have to attend the ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan.  Anyone
who’s anyone will be there and it’s your shot for stardom.  On stage, you must give an acceptance speech.  What would you say and who would you thank?

I’d like to thank all the readers for showing support for the book. We write to get read and if it wasn’t for the readers, then it’s just words on a page.

BOOK BLURB:

Any wish fulfilled for the right price. That’s the promise the Desire Card gives to its elite clients. But if the Card doesn’t feel like they’ve been justly compensated, the “price” will be more menacing than the clients could ever imagine.
Harrison Stockton learns this lesson all too well. Harrison has lived an adult life of privilege and excess: a high-powered job on Wall Street along with a fondness for alcohol and pills, and a family he adores, yet has no time for. All of this comes crashing to a halt when he loses his executive job and discovers he has liver cirrhosis with mere months left to live.

After finding himself far down on the donor list, Harrison takes matters into his own hands. This decision sparks a gritty and gripping quest that takes him to the slums of Mumbai in search of a black market organ and forces him under the Desire Card’s thumb. When his moral descent threatens his wife and children, Harrison must decide whether to save himself at any cost, or do what’s right and put a stop to the Card.

THE DESIRE CARD is a taut international thriller that explores what a man will do to survive when money isn’t always enough to get everything he desires. It’s the first book in a series followed by PREY NO MORE that focuses on other people indebted to this sinister organization, where the actual price is the cost of one’s soul.

PRAISE:
“Careful what you wish for, especially from a nefarious shadow organization, in this gripping start to Lee Matthew Goldberg’s fast-paced, highly compelling, buzz worthy new series. If you love characters morally compromised, richly drawn, and constantly surprising, you’ll love THE DESIRE CARD. I burned through the first book and can’t wait to get my hands on PREY NO MORE to see where this endlessly exciting story takes me next! Loved it!” – Daniel Palmer, critically acclaimed suspense author
